Mbah Maridjan Died

As we all know that Mount Merapi, first erupted on Tuesday, 26^th 2010 a day after a tsunami pounded remote islands in western Indonesia, and killing at least 113 people.

This active volcano located on the outskirts of the city of Yogyakarta on Java island, also killing at least 25 villagers including an old man known as the mountain's spiritual gatekeeper, Mbah Maridjan. Maridjan who has real name Ki Suraso Hargo, an 85-year-old man, was entrusted by a highly respected late king to watch over the volcano's spirits.

The search and rescue team founded Mbah Maridjan body at his house in Kinahredjo Village in the position of praying, kneeling face-down on the floor. Maridjan, who for years led ceremonies in which rice and flowers were thrown into the crater to appease spirits, has angered officials in the past by refusing to evacuate even during eruptions.

Mbah Maridjan is a person who holds fast to the principles and responsible. Although the alert status of Merapi has, Mbah Maridjan stayed in his house as a form of responsibility towards the mandate to embrace as 'courtiers' Palace Ngayogyakarta.

Mbah Maridjan now gone. He has kept his promise to remain faithful to keep the Mount Merapi, until his death. We are losing the figure that a 'role model', which has always be a place for advice. We pray that the spirit Mbah Maridjan acceptable in the sight of God , charities received his worship and his sins forgiven.
